COVID-19 Emergency Renewal Assistance Program

In support of New York State’s efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, the New York Peer Specialist Certification Board (NYPSCB) has taken several steps to reduce the risks posed by the COVID-19 epidemic to staff, board members and the public. As we continue to monitor how the NYPSCB can best support those seeking and maintaining peer specialist certification in New York State, the board recently approved the NYPSCB COVID-19 Emergency Renewal Assistance Program which was designed to remove barriers to maintaining certification during the epidemic.

The NYPSCB COVID-19 Emergency Renewal Assistance Program was designed to address the challenges facing many of those certified by the NYPSCB which includes difficulties around completing their renewal application, lack of training opportunities, late fees and challenges around accessing documentation needed in order to renew their NYCPS certification. The program temporarily suspends the NYPSCB renewal program and immediately renews all NYCPS and NYCPS-Provisional certifications through May 31, 2021. In addition, the program does not require any application or documentation be submitted and all late fees will be waived. Renewals will be processed in June and emailed in early July to all those with a NYCPS and NYCPS-Provisional certification.
